The Mooney Suzuki
|
The Mooney Suzuki's long awaited fourth album, "Have Mercy," is finally in stores June 19th via Elixia Records. The group's most sophisticated record to date, "Have Mercy" levies a greater emphasis upon vocals and melody than any prior Mooney release. The result is some of the group's most critically acclaimed work to date.
The Mooney's recently hit the road, bringing their bombastic show to the masses with sold out solo dates, gigs with Strokes' star Albert Hammond, Jr. and some memorable sets at 2007's SxSW.
Through the purgatory the band endured leading up to the release of "Have Mercy," (parting ways with Columbia, the demise of V2 Records), one lesson lead songwriter/vocalist Sammy James, Jr. says he's learned is summed up by the album's opener, "99%," in a lyric cribbed from Winston Churchill: "If you've been going though hell, keep going."
Look for The Mooney Suzuki on tour now. The Mooney Suzuki album release/listening party Tuesday June 19th 9 PM-12 AM Hi-Fi Bar 169 Ave. A between 10th and 11th streets
