On July 31, 2006, guitar legend Kenny Burrell celebrated his 75th birthday. He heightened the milestone by recording his 80th album the same day at Yoshi's in Berkeley, CA, a favorite jazz club among musicians for its environment, its staff, and its audience. On the night, after just finishing a 4-Day run at the club with his quartet, Kenny invited guests artists Hubert Laws and Joey DeFrancesco to join his band and the Gerald Wilson Orchestra for two sublime sets that have been distilled into this wonderful album, Birthday Bash: Live at Yoshi's. Available digitally and in stores, June 19th.
